Who We Are
Barbara A. Miller, the founder and President of Grant Writing Resources, Inc, is a certified grant writer. She began her grant writing career by volunteering to write grants while she served on numerous nonprofit boards. She incorporated her business in May 2007 after researching grant sources and writing grants for more than 15 years.
She received her undergraduate degree in education from Sacred Heart University, her masters degree in business administration from Rutgers University and her Professional Grant Writer Certification from Simmons College.
Formerly, Miller was the founder and president of the Personnel Dimension, Inc. a California Corporation specializing in human resources support and training. Finding practical solutions to organizational problems has always been a special interest of Ms. Miller. She is recognized for her ability to identify ways to reduce expenses and improve profits. Her custom designed training programs improve employees' knowledge, skills and attitudes toward their jobs. These programs included basic supervisory and advanced management skills. She also designed and facilitated client specific programs on team building, presentations, communications, business writing, consultative selling and customer service.
Prior to incorporating her business, Miller held executive level positions, in both line and staff functions, with Fortune 1000 companies. Most recently, she served as an executive officer and division administrator for the largest bank in the state of Connecticut.
She is a guest speaker for civic and professional organizations on various topics related to the business environment as well as on the topic of grant writing.
Miller believes strongly in volunteerism and public service. She is currently:
- A Selectman for the town of Peterborough
- Trustee of the Peterborough Players
- Member of the Society for Human Resources Management
- Member of the Greater Peterborough and Greater Keene Chambers of Commerce
- On the Board of the Peterborough Rotary Club
- A Paul Harris Fellow
Formerly Miller was:
- A two-term member of the Town of Peterborough Budget Committee
- A member of the Town of Peterborough CIP Committee
- The 2006-2007 Chair of the Board of the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce
- The 2007-2008 President of the Peterborough Rotary Club
- A District Chair for the Monadnock United Way
- President of the Connecticut State Federation of Women's Clubs
- Board member of the Milford Family and Child Guidance Clinic
- Board member of the Emergency Medical Services Council
Miller has been cited in Marquis Publishing's Who's Who in America, the nation's top biographical dictionary.
In 2008, Miller was awarded the prestigious Lamplighter Award for Excellence in Writing from the New England Society for Healthcare Communications.
